Hacker Everyday Carry Giveaway

The Everyday Carry

There has been a recent increase in the use of bug-out-bags, pocket notebooks, carrying objects in your pocket for zombie survival, and just carrying around useful stuff where ever you go. Some people plan for a major apocalypse while others plan for more sensible things like going three days without take-out food or having a notebook and pen with you at all times.

Then there is the minimalist who is counting the number of extra grams they are carrying around so they keep it light. Really light.

While some others just like to carry knives, lots of knives.

Everyone has their own idea of what they need to carry on a day-to-day basis. It might be nice to have a Swedish Steel Fire-starter and a 37 function multi-tool on your keychain. It might be a lot nicer to have a bag of everyday hacker tools you could whip out at your local coffee shop or in your break-room at work.

Needful Things

What we need is a Hacker Everyday Carry (HEDC).

BSides Chattanooga is going to build an HEDC to give away during the first BSdiesCHA event. We are going to spend every waking moment searching out the most useful and coolest tools to stuff in a bag that some lucky person will walk away with at the end of the day. What could be in our HEDC?

Just about anything.

Here is a list of the things we have already considered for our bag of wonder.

  • A cool bag (not in the bag of course, but the bag has to be cool)
  • Mini-flashlight with lots of lumen options
  • USB penetration tool
  • Electronic toolkit
  • USB injection tools

  • Bluetooth dongle
  • YubiKey
  • USB Hub

  • Duct tape
  • USB case (for you array of USBs)
  • Monofiliment
